At TicketyBooText, I believe that words have the power to inspire, inform and influence.

My aim is to provide a quality proofreading service for individuals and organisations seeking to make their words count. With a focus on quality, reliability and innovation, I am committed to helping my clients succeed.

My story

TicketyBooText was founded by me, Vicky Billingham, when I saw the need for high-quality proofreading services accessible to everyone.

With contacts in the publishing world and previous roles where the meaning of the written word was crucially important to delivering messages effectively, I noticed that standards of spelling and grammar have declined dramatically in recent years. This is, no doubt, down to many factors, such as a reluctance to teach grammar, the fact that all languages evolve over time and, of course, increased use of texting.

But it is important to make your meaning clear: errors in writing interrupt the flow, causing confusion for the reader; errors in website content can cut online sales in half; errors in a CV will seriously hamper your chances of being shortlisted. 

Who am I?

I was, until recently, the training manager of a global risk and safety management company, where I was responsible for the quality of the training materials used in client training, including an online Master’s programme.

Prior to that I delivered project management training on a freelance basis and used my previous IT project management career to influence my book, ‘How to Plan and Deliver a Successful Project’.  

I have always been passionate about clear communication and the significant role that all forms of written media play.

I am now an editor of my local village newsletter, produced using Canva, and a member of the CIEP (Chartered Institute of Editing and Proofreading).
