Remember that it’s our vote that counts. It’s our decision – no one else’s.
There will be a number of crucial votes coming up for residents of The Dovecote. In the context of voting, for residents, we really mean homeowners. It’s homeowners who have the right to vote, although TDRA is always interested in hearing from all residents that live on The Dovecote.
Vote 1: Expression of Interest in the Outcome of Handover
Starting off with an easy one! TDRA needs to know how interested residents are in the outcome of handover. Main reason we need to know, is to provide some initial direction to the Elected Committee.
For example, if most residents are not too concerned about where we end up, then it may not be worthwhile investing time and energy in trying to deliver Our Vision.
We will also find out how many residents want to get involved and that may help us deliver more of Our Plan in the short space of time that we have before handover is likely to take place.

Vote 2: Do we want FirstPort to Take Over as Estate Manager after Handover is Complete?
This is the critical question and is the immediate focus for the Elected Committee in respect to Our Action.
We believe that residents would prefer to have the opportunity to decide which Estate Manager they want to appoint. We believe residents do not want to have an Estate Manager forced upon them.
However, residents MUST have their say and their decision MUST be respected. That is the fundamental point of democracy.

This vote will need to be auditable. We will need detailed evidence in support of any resident-driven proposal to move away from the standard playbook. Other stakeholders impacted by any such decision will (no doubt) ask to see that evidence.
Vote 3: Do we want an EGM as Soon as Possible, at which we can Elect Resident Directors?
With the result of Vote 2 being largely ignored by Bloor Homes Ltd, we now need to push for an early EGM. This vote should secure enough support to justify the calling of an EGM, at which we can elect Resident Directors.

Vote 4: How do we want the Management Company to be Managed?
If Vote 2 results in a majority of residents voting to stick with FirstPort, Vote 4 will not be required.
If Vote 2 results in a majority of residents voting they want the opportunity to decide which Estate Manager they want to appoint, then Vote 4 is all about how the residents would like to manage things moving forward.
More details on the options will be provided closer to the time. Work has been started on fleshing Our Option out.
